Home Theatre Installations

Take your family movie nights to the next level with your own home theatre. A home theatre installation can take many different forms, from a professionally mounted TV & soundbar in the living room that hides all the wires, to a full multichannel surround sound system with an automated projector screen including in-wall, and in-ceiling speakers. To help you decide what type of system will be right for you, we’ve listed some of our most common questions below.

Both Televisions and Projectors have their pros and cons when used in a home theatre system. There are several questions that will help determine which is the right choice for your space. What is the size of the room, and how many people will be watching? How much ambient light is in the space? A dedicated theatre room that can be easily darkened will favor a projector, whereas a living room with lots of ambient light, and wanting to use the system in the daytime will lean more towards a TV.
A room with lots of ambient light will benefit from a TV over a projector
The main factor to consider when determining how many speakers to have in your home theatre system is the size of the room, and generally, the larger the room, the more speakers you can accommodate. That being said, when working within a budget, most audio enthusiasts would agree that the quality of your equipment takes precedence over having a large number of lower quality surround speakers. Another important factor to consider is the source of the videos you are watching, and what surround sound capabilities are supported. Netflix for example, supports up to 5.1 channel surround sound, as well as Dolby Atmos. A 7.1 channel system would not be utilized to its full potential in this case. The app you are using to browse a streaming service can also impact its audio compatibility. Amazon Prime Video launched from a Samsung Smart TV will support 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos, however if Prime Video is launched from a connected Xbox One or Playstation, Dolby Atmos will no longer be supported.
Dolby Atmos takes your traditional surround sound system, and adds a height channel to create a three dimensional audio experience. In a traditional system, for example a 5.1, you are surrounded by speakers in a two dimensional plane. With Dolby Atmos, in-ceiling or upfiring speakers add the height dimension to the sound. The difference is a far more realistic audio experience. In a scene with a helicopter for example, instead of hearing the helicopter go around you from the front to back speakers, you can actually hear it go directly over your head!

Home Automation

Smart home automation can give you peace of mind that your home is under control, even when you are away. Set your lighting, music, temperature and video to greet you with the perfect welcome. With one button your security system arms, lights go on, temperature adjusts and all the music and TVs automatically turn on. Keep an eye on things—from anywhere. Whether equipment or lights are left on, or unusual activity is detected, you’ll always be in the know.

Distributed Audio

A distributed audio system allows you to listen to sound from a central source throughout the house, or listen to different audio sources in different rooms throughout the house. This type of installation typically consists of installing speakers on the walls, ceiling, or underneath flooring; then routing signals through an amplifier to control volume levels so that each room has specific requirements met according to its desired source.

A multi-zone system will give you independent control over groups of speakers in different locations. For example, you may want to have the volume of music in your living room be set at a different level than in your backyard. This would require a multi-zone audio system.
We program your system so it’s easy to control what audio sources you want to listen to, in any room. Many people find it easiest to control through the smartphone app. We also program and install wall switches (pictured below) to make changing audio sources a breeze. No more fumbling with multiple remotes and trying to match the right inputs and outputs!
Ultimately this will depend on factors like your ceiling height, whether you want audio to be the primary focus (like a residential home theatre) or if it’s background music, and your room layout and decor. This is also determined by the number of rooms that you want to have sound in.

Distributed Video

There are several ways to control your distributed video system, and we work with you to determine the best way for your specific use. For residential clients, many people find it easiest to control through the smartphone app, or single unified remote control. We can also install wall switches to make changing video sources a breeze. No more fumbling with multiple remotes and trying to match the right inputs and outputs! Another benefit of distributed video is it allows for all the equipment to be stored in a closet, or somewhere out of sight. This will keep your home decor clean and free from the extra clutter of electronics.

Home Networking

Ensuring your home has a strong and robust network is the single most important thing that we do, as your network is the lifeblood that controls everything. The network is what controls your distributed video or distributed audio systems, security systems, lighting automation, and impacts the ability of everyone in the house to enjoy connectivity.

To determine how many access points you will need, first consider the size, layout, and construction of your house. Does your home have in-floor heating, and therefore concrete floors? Does it utilize metal studs or wood studs? What is the current distance from the router to the furthest point in your home? All these factors will help determine how many WiFi access points you will have to install.
As long as your are getting fast enough upload and download speeds coming into your home, ultimately your choice of internet service provider is up to you. We are familiar with all the ins and outs of their specific modems and routers and will be able to work with any ISP.
It can be frustrating to open up your computer and see several other WiFi networks in your immediate vicinity, and then have trouble connecting to your network. It is possible that you are getting interference from competing WiFi networks operating on the same channel as yours. We utilize hardware and software to generate a “heat map” of the WiFi coverage in your home. This includes the strength and channels of nearby networks so we can ensure the least amount of interference for your network.

Home security

Keep your home, and the important things in it, safe and secure at all times. Check your door locks, and cameras from across the street or across the globe. Receive alerts when someone authorized enters or exits your house. Set lights to automatically turn on or off based on dawn & dusk, or whatever schedule you choose. Smart home security solutions put peace of mind at your fingertips so you can trust that your loved ones are safe and sound.

Ultimately this depends on the size of your property. Common areas for security cameras include: Main entrances, secondary entrances and exits, garage, and outdoor areas.
